MOROCCO – On this 10-day trip, you’ll experience multifaceted and mystical Morocco — a fairy tale country, beguiling and seductive. Take in the glamorous four imperial cities with oriental flair and mysterious souks. Enjoy the defiant mud castles on the road of the Kasbahs, immersed in a magnificent landscape of snow-capped mountain ranges, golden sand dunes and palm-fringed oases — an unforgettable experience!
Day 1: Arrival to Casablanca (B)
Start Point Casablanca, Morocco
A flight will take you to Casablanca today and then transfer to your hotel. overnight in Casablanca.
Day 2: Royal city of Rabat (B)
Be impressed by the imposing Hassan II Mosque (exterior visit) in Casablanca before continuing your journey to the country’s capital and royal residence Rabat (UNESCO World Heritage Site). The columns in front of the massive Hassan Tower as well as the mausoleum, where the former Moroccan rulers rest in magnificent sarcophagi made of white Carrara marble, will inspire you. Afterwards you will stroll through the Kasbah of Oudaya. Take the opportunity for a short break and observe the colourful street life, for example, with a cup of tea in a Moorish café. In the late afternoon you will reach Chefchaouen, the “blue” city in the green mountains. overnight in Rabat.
Day 3: Chefchaouen (B)
Blue-washed houses, narrow streets in the medina, Andalusian flair paired with oriental tradition capture this atmosphere during your city walk. In the afternoon you are in charge of the program! For example, how about a walk in the medina or would you like to enjoy a mint tea on the roof terrace of a café with a view of the large Tarik Ben Ziad Mosque with its octagonal minaret? (F) Day
4: Meknes and Roman past in Volubilis
Your journey takes you first to Volubilis, the largest and best-preserved Roman archaeological site in Morocco. Stroll through this unique open-air museum with impressive floor mosaics (UNESCO World Heritage Site) before continuing to the pilgrimage site of Moulay Idriss. The medina in Meknes (UNESCO World Heritage Site) is one of the liveliest old towns in Morocco. Stroll through the bazaar and take in the potpourri of colors and smells. Your city tour ends at the “Bab El Mansour”, which is not without reason considered the most magnificent city gate in al of Morocco. In the late afternoon you arrive in Fez, Morocco’s oldest royal city. overnight in a riad in Fez.
Day 5: Fez (B)
Today belongs solely to the royal city of Fez (UNESCO World Heritage Site). You will feel like a time traveller when you enter the old town through the magnificent Bab Boujeloud, as it has remained virtually unchanged for almost a millennium. Walk through the maze of winding alleys and be fascinated by the unique colourful hustle and bustle, the smells and the buzz of voices in the souks. Magnificent medreses, the impressive Karaouine Mosque and beautiful mosaic fountains further captivate the viewer.
Day 6: Drive over the middle Atlas to the sand dunes (B/D)
Behind Fez, the road winds through olive groves up into the spectacular mountains of the Middle Atlas. Again and again you will pass small villages with mud houses and magnificent kasbahs. You will be invited to a delicious cup of tea with a local Berber family. Through the beautiful Ziz valley, surrounded by palm groves and rugged cliffs, you will then reach your destination for today, Merzouga, which is located directly on the sand dunes of the Erg Chebbi, one of the most impressive dune areas in Morocco. overnight in Merzouga. Day 7: Road of the Kasbahs (B/D)
Before breakfast, you have the opportunity to take a one-hour camel ride (included) to the sand dunes of Erg Chebbi and be enchanted by the unique atmosphere of the desert. On the “Road of the Kasbahs” you will pass small villages with defiant clay castles (Kasbahs) and green palm groves against the unique backdrop of the high mountains of the High Atlas. A detour will take you to the imposingly craggy Todra Gorge. The rock walls rise almost 300 meters vertically – an impressive natural landscape! Passing green palm oases and small villages you will reach the impressive Dades Gorge and then Boumalne Dades. overnight in Dades. (B/D)
Day 8: Kesar Ait Benhaddou (B/D)
Passing green palm oases, fragrant rose fields, fig, apricot and almond trees, you will reach Ouarzazate. Stroll through the beautiful city before a highlight of your trip awaits you with the Kesar Ait Benhaddou (UNESCO World Heritage Site)! The most impressive of al clay settlements lies in a picturesque valley and has often served as a film set. A magnificent mountain drive on the Tizi N’Tichka pass road will take you over the main range of the High Atlas to Marrakech, the “Pearl of the South”. Situated at the foot of the High Atlas mountain peaks and surrounded by a thousand year-old date palm garden, this oasis city exudes a unique atmosphere. overnights in Marrakech.
Day 9: Marrakech (B)
The minaret of the Koutoubia Mosque is the most prominent silhouette and thus a landmark of the city. Stro l through the narrow maze of alleys in the medina (UNESCO World Heritage Site) and visit the cultural highlights of the city such as the magnificent Palais de Bahia and the richly decorated Saadian tombs. A feast for the senses awaits you in the souks. Oriental spices such as cardamom, turmeric or saffron compete for the finest smell. The afternoon is yours! From the nearby main square D’jemaa El Fena the sounds of the oriental evening spectacle waft over. Storytellers, acrobats, musicians, and jugglers transform the square into a giant open-air theatre. Marrakech’s unique “stage” has been designated an Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity by UNESCO. Countless cookshops also transform the square into a place of experiential gastronomy.
Day 10: Return flight (B)
